Introduction to DSUK Holidays

At Disability Snowsport UK, our holidays are about far more than time on the snow.

They are designed to give disabled people the confidence, support, and opportunity to experience the mountains in a way that is often difficult to access through mainstream travel. Whether you are a complete beginner, returning to snowsports after an injury or illness, or an experienced skier looking for a supportive group environment, our holidays are built around you.

For many of our participants, a DSUK holiday is the first time they have travelled independently, skied with people who understand their needs, or felt fully included in a mountain environment.

What makes a DSUK holiday different?

Our holidays combine accessible travel planning, expert adaptive snowsport instruction, and the support of a welcoming community.

You are not simply booking accommodation and ski lessons. You are joining a carefully planned programme delivered by a charity whose sole focus is removing barriers to snowsports.

We support a wide range of disabled skiers and snowboarders, including sit skiers and stand up skiers, and we work hard to ensure that each person receives the right level of support both on and off the mountain.

What we offer

Every DSUK holiday is designed to make the experience as straightforward and enjoyable as possible.

Typically, our holidays include:
- Return travel from the UK
- Accessible airport and transfer planning
- Carefully selected accommodation
- Lift pass
- Equipment hire or carriage
- Adaptive snowsport sessions with qualified instructors
- Support from experienced DSUK staff and volunteers
- A friendly group environment where everyone shares a love of the mountains

Our team is there to help reduce the stress that can often come with organising an adaptive holiday, so that you can focus on enjoying the experience.

A typical day on a DSUK holiday

No two holidays are exactly the same, but most days include a snowsport session tailored to your ability and goals.

Some participants are learning the basics of skiing or snowboarding. Others are developing their technique, exploring the mountain, or building confidence in adaptive equipment. Afternoons and evenings provide time to relax, enjoy the resort, and spend time with the group.

Many people tell us that the social side of the holiday becomes just as important as the skiing itself.

Why these holidays matter

Access to mountains, travel, and sport is still not equal for many disabled people. Practical barriers, cost, confidence, and a lack of specialist support can make adaptive holidays feel out of reach. DSUK exists to challenge those barriers.

Our holidays create opportunities for people to:
- Build confidence and independence
- Improve physical and mental wellbeing
- Develop new skillsReconnect with sport after injury or illness
- Meet others with shared experiences
- Experience the freedom and enjoyment of the mountains

The impact often continues long after the holiday ends. Many travellers go on to ski more regularlyand travel more independently.

An integral part of Disability Snowsport UK

Our holiday programme is not separate from our charitable work. It is a core part of it.

DSUK’s mission is to make mountains and snowsports accessible to everyone, regardless of disability. Our holidays bring that mission to life by creating opportunities for participation, progression, and connection in a supportive mountain environment.

Everything we do is guided by the values that shape the whole charity.

- We aim to be welcoming, ensuring that everyone feels included, respected, and supported from their first enquiry through to the end of the holiday.
- We are listening, recognising that disabled people are experts in their own lives and that understanding individual needs is essential to delivering meaningful support.
- We believe in challenging and supporting people at the same time, helping each participant build confidence, develop skills, and achieve goals that matter to them.
- We are committed to being transparent in how we communicate, plan, and support our holidays, so that participants can make informed decisions and know what to expect throughout the process.

For many people, a DSUK holiday is not just a week away. It is the beginning of a longer journey with the charity, whether that means progressing in snowsports, becoming a regular participant, volunteering, or simply gaining the confidence to access new opportunities in the future.
