Take part in cycling challenge to support Disability Snowsport UK
8th July 2009
The Justbike event takes place on 3rd October 2009, and includes two different challenges....
The Ride
The 100km Route
If you are looking for a real challenge to raise money for Disability Snowsport then this is the route for you. The route takes you through some of the most stunning countryside in Britain with picturesque villages, ancient tracks and rolling Downland, all comprising to make a most invigorating ride we could make. The routes follows an old railway line south from Swindon to Marlborough where it heads east along lanes and through villages before turning north over tracks to the Ridgeway where it then follows the historic Ridgeway tracks back to Coate Water.
We believe the route is so good you will be desperate to come back to the area for days out. It is tough, but you will get the biggest sense of achievement when you cross the finish line. Both routes are circular. ( 100km=62miles).
50km Route
If you feel the BIG challenge above is just a little too far then this route would suit you perfectly. This route follows the course of the 100km route until soon after Marlborough where it heads north along tracks to the Ridgeway (Uffington Castle) before heading west back to Coate Water. The 50km route is still challenging and should not be underestimated, but the scenery is spectacular and it will all combine for the most stunning ride. (50km = 31km)
The Location
Coate Water Country Park is on the outskirts of Swindon in Wiltshire. The venue is just 5 minutes from the M5. You event pack will contain full directions and venue information. The rides covers the rolling Downs and countryside covering parts of Wiltshire, Berkshire and Oxfordshire. The area of the ride is between Swindon, Newbury, Marlborough and Wantage.
If you are interested in taking part in either challenge, you can sign up online here, or you can get in touch with the fundraising team at amyking@disabilitysnowsport.org.uk for more information.
