ADAPTIVE SNOWSPORTS JUST GOT BIGGER!
5th July 2010
EXCITING NEWS FOR ANYONE WITH ANY DISABILITY WHO WANTS TO GET INVOLVED IN SNOWSPORTS!
Due to popular demand Disability Snowsport UK are opening 3 NEW Adaptive Ski Schools across the UK. The success of the current ski schools at Hemel Snow Centre, Braehead SNO!zone and Chill Factore, Manchester delivering lessons up to 7 days a week has brought about the launch of the new Adaptive ski schools based at Tamworth SnowDome, SNO!zone Milton Keynes & SNO!zone Castleford this Autumn 2010.
This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone with any disability to be able to access adaptive lessons at a local slope all year round. The ski schools will work closely with the local groups at each centre to provide the skiers the choice of either adaptive 1-1 skiing lessons or to ski recreationally with the local group.
DSUK and Crystal are also developing a new ‘access for all’ race league due to begin next summer 2011! This will be a fun and exciting race league open to any level of disability taking place at all 6 indoor skiing centres throughout the UK where the adaptive ski schools are based. Our fundraisers are currently making applications to support the costs of travel, slope fees, accommodation and of course a bit of socialising at these events!
Ali Hastings-SNO!zone Milton Keynes Site Director spoke out in support of the new adaptive ski schools 'SNO!zone Milton Keynes, is extremely proud to host the DSUK Milton Keynes Ski Club on a monthly basis, providing access to the slopes for adaptive users from the surrounding areas. Over the years, the club and it's committee has done a fantastic job in providing adaptive skiers and snowboarders with access to the slopes, and have built up a large and successful group of members. To continue the development of the adaptive opportunities within SNO!zone Milton Keynes, we are pleased to support the newly formed DSUK snow school which will compliment the existing monthly club by providing lessons on demand on a daily basis. This will give new and existing users the opportunity to learn new and enhanced skills, and will act as a feeder to the monthly club nights, and hopefully further enhance the existing membership. We are very excited about this new development and look forward to welcoming many new users to the slope over the forth coming months and years.'
