The Glenmore office is our main administrative centre. Situated close to Aviemore and the Cairngorm Mountain www.cairngormmountain.co.uk ski resort, home to our Adaptive Snowsports School, .
From the Glenmore office we coordinate all our overseas skiing activities, training courses, support for our volunteers, local groups and members.
The Adaptive Snowsports School has been operating from its purpose built home beside the Funicular Station on Cairngorm Mountain since 2003.
The school was officially opened on 28th June 2004 by Mike Dixon, 6 times winter Olympian in the Biathlon and winner of the BBC endurance show Hercules. Mike is now one of our Patrons and provides his expertise to the British Adaptive Ski Team.
During the season (January through to April) the school operates from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. seven days a week. The school employs fully qualified adaptive instructors from many different countries so our clients benefit from this wide experience and the instructors learn a lot from their international colleagues.
The centre is fully equipped with the most up to date adaptive equipment and caters for all disabilities, physical and learning in both skiing and snowboarding. It is thanks to the generosity of our supporters that we are able to regularly update our equipment and add new pieces as they come on the market.
Within the operating hours of the school our Schools and Youth programme run concurrently. Most lessons are on a 1:1 ratio with volunteer helpers often working alongside our instructors with sit skiers.
We have a very good relationship with the Cairngorm Mountain Company, whose staff are excellent in looking after our skiers and who have excellent facilities for the disabled.
The upper slopes on Cairngorm provide an excellent teaching environment and good access to them via the Funicular means lessons are rarely cancelled.
