SnowDome, Leisure Island, River Drive, Tamworth, Staffordshire, B79 7ND.    5 minutes from JUNCTION 10 of the M42

About the SnowDome

The SnowDome first opened in May 1994 and was the first full-sized recreational indoor ski slope in the UK.  The slope is 170 metres long by 30 metres wide.
There is also an ice rink, Snow Play area, swimming pool and gym and at certain times tobogganing is available on the main slope.  Food and drink is served from Aspens bar and restaurant and a Starbucks coffee shop.  There is also an Ellis Brigham shop and Crystal ski holiday desk on site.

Disabled Parking

When after entering the complex through the car park and past the ticket machine, the disabled parking is on the first left past the Holiday Inn’s main entrance.

Main building

The main reception, Aspens bar/restaurant, Starbucks, Ellis Brigham shop, including the viewing areas are all situated on this level.
The ski hire and equipment area along with access to the slope is situated in the basement, which is accessed via a lift just inside the entrance to Aspens.

Your lesson
Paul is the Ski School Manager at the SnowDome and currently teaches on a Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. You can contact Paul on 07810 263357 or email him on dsuktamworth@disabilitysnowsport.org.uk To book lessons call 0845 521 9338 or email lessons@disabilitysnowsport.org.uk

With DSUK, come down to basement level and ask at the ski hire desk for the DSUK instructor.  Come in good time, preferably 20 minutes prior to the lesson. In case of problems ask at the desk or call the DSUK Ski School Manager on 07810 263357 or DSUK office 01479 861272. With your first lesson, you will talk through with your instructor your aims for skiing and fill in your evaluation form, get fitted with kit, so much of your first lesson will not be based on the slope.  All lessons are on a one to one basis unless the lessons are booked as a group.
Helmets are necessary and can be found on the stands in rental area.  For skis / snowboard/ boots go up to the ski hire desk and ask for the appropriate kit.  Say you’re with DSUK and like everyone else they will ask as to your level of skiing/ boarding first.  If a helper/ carer/ buddy are coming out with the instructor they too should get whatever kit is needed.

There are changing rooms in ski hire.  Lockers for bags are available which cost a non-refundable 20p.

Have a great time skiing at Tamworth with DSUK and I look forward to seeing you here.

All the Best

Paul
