There are an estimated 14 million disabled people in the UK and it’s our ambition to reach as many of these people as possible so that they can experience the unique health and social benefits of snowsport.  We deliver adaptive ski lessons in centres across the UK, facilitate trips to Europe and the USA to teach skiing in an alpine environment; and provide a platform for disabled skiers to meet and participate in snowsports through our local groups. 
 
Scope of work 
 
Working with the Fundraising Manager and CEO, the Development Officer will develop and coordinate the delivery of local fundraising, outreach and other activities whilst offering support to local groups and ensuring that appropriate safeguarding and compliance practices are in place. 
 
We are looking for an adaptable and proactive individual who is people-focused, possesses exceptional organisational and financial management skills, and who is committed to providing the best possible experience for disabled people. 
 
Key responsibilities 
 
• To coordinate and support the delivery of a calendar of fundraising and out-reach activities across the south of England and borders to Birmingham (depending on your area), with a particular focus on our current and developing locations.  • To work with local groups, volunteers, staff, and others to ensure the successful delivery of local activities. • To apply to Trusts and grant awarding bodies to support DSUK activity. • To ensure compliance with relevant DSUK policies and assist in educating staff and volunteers on policies, procedures and regulations that impact the delivery of local activities.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including written, verbal, and presentation skills in a professional setting. • Practical experience of planning and delivering a variety of activities including fundraising, training, and outreach events. • Proven planning and organisational skills with excellent attention to detail. • Experience of financial planning and budgeting. • Experience of establishing effective working relationships, partnerships and collaborations with a range of organisations and providers. • Examples of self-motivation and the ability to work on your own initiative as well as part of a team. • Experience of working in the third sector with a disability/accessibility organisation. • Information management, e.g. CRM, website content, and social media. 
 
Desirable experience: 
• Confident in GDPR processes. • Knowledge of Health and Safety issues, and statutory and other guidance on protecting vulnerable groups. • Experience of working with a member organisation.  • A passion for snowsport. • An understanding of issues facing disabled people and/or adaptive sports-based activities.

Role:                Snowsport School Manager, Tamworth
Location:         Tamworth

Disability Snowsport UK is seeking a Snowsport School Manager to oversee the delivery of adaptive Snowsport lessons in Tamworth.
 
Responsible for:
 
Along with delivering adaptive snowsport lessons, you will coordinate the delivery of lessons in Snowdome, Tamworth.  This will involve liaising with a number of part time and occasional Instructors, communicating with the bookings team based at the Aviemore Office and ensuring that delivery targets are met. You will also be expected to support the delivery of our activity weeks aboard and participate in local fundraising events.
 
Main Duties:
 
  1. To deliver adaptive Ski and Snowboard lessons
  2. To help co-ordinate instructors to run adaptive lessons
  3. To work closely with local schools, youth groups, disabled organisations and disabled people to provide opportunities to participate in Snowsport
  4. To liaise closely with the Snowdome to provide access for disabled participants
  5. To ensure that all activities are carried out within the organisations Health and Safety, Child Protection, and safeguarding guidelines
  6. To promote DSUK and recruit participating groups throughout the area
  7. To maintain records of participant and lesson numbers, significant outcomes and compile monthly reports on the project
  8. To liaise closely with the Snowsports Manager to ensure that there is a natural progression for participating groups to attend residential weeks overseas          
  1. To accompany groups abroad who have participated in the programme and who want to make the progression into the mountains
  2. To identify young individuals for potential involvement in the Race structure
  3. To support the local group leaders and slope organisers.
 
 
Other duties
  1. To work alongside other members of staff to help carry out our long-term vision
  2. To work on training courses as appropriate to your qualifications
  3. Attend meetings, exhibitions, conferences on behalf of DSUK as appropriate
  4. Maintain all Adaptive equipment to a serviceable standard
  5. Organise training sessions for your Instructor Team
  6. Any other duties that are deemed appropriate by the Chief Executive, Business Development Manager, or Snowsport Manager to the successful delivery of the project
 
Person Specification:
 
Essential
  • BASI Adaptive Level 1 essential, Adaptive L2 preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including written, verbal, and presentation skills in a professional setting.
